Pat Martino on Dennis Sandole
"To be honest with you, I studied Dennis more as a person than I did study his approach to music. I never really understood how to make use of his music information. It dealt a great deal with scales and with modes. Since I was self-taught, I spent just four months with Dennis before leaving for Harlem at the age of 15. What I do is totally different than what Dennis taught." (Pat Martino)

(from artist's site) - Steve Palmer is a songwriter and performer who burns away the night pounding on his acoustic guitars to come up with rhythms, melodies and lyrics. Then he takes the songs to Jim, the producer, who gives his input. They usually involve words like “simplicity”, “bar-speak” and “detail.” Before big projects, Steve then drives with his songbook to Philadelphia to see Chuck Anderson, his musical instructor. Chuck hears the music and often gives Steve one chord transitions or nudges him to come up with additional melodic ideas or interludes. "Every song doesn't have to be in E minor, Steve," he repeatedly told Steve. Steve listens hard to Chuck. Chuck was a visiting professor of the Liverpool School of Songwriting whose board members included Paul McCartney and George Martin.

The Six Secrets of Guitar Fingering, Fingering is one of the most universal topics of the guitar. Whether your style is Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz or Classical, these principles will improve your technique, your solos, even your sight reading.
Think of the guitar as a massive series of pathways. When you learn to connect these pathways, there are benefits not only to technique but also to creativity. All fingering on the guitar can be reduced to 6 principles of motion. Each principle has physical and musical characteristics that you can use to improve your playing.

Mastering the Modes - The modes are a system of scales and chords dating back to Pythagoras of ancient Greece. They were heavily in use for a period of church music known as Gregorian Chant. They have also influenced the music of many diverse Western cultures.
